Message This is my first post on the site. I was hoping you can give me some insight to the replacement of a boost controller.
I recently purchased a 95 300ZX SMZ. The previous owner had a good strong motor rebuild and tune. It has some rather impressive parts and others not so impressive. I am trying to eliminate some of the electronics clutter and clean some items up on the vehicle. It has a good HKS EVC IV boost controller in the pocket beneath the radio. I was looking at AEM gauges and was interested in their Tru-boost gauge. I had ordered a regular AEM boost gauge but liked the idea of the gauge and controller in one. Do I keep the HKS controller as is or do I purchase the AEM Tru-boost and tune it around the same settings as the HKS? I need to be able to run two boost programs for two different tunes/fuels as well. I believe the AEM can do that. The only questions I have about the AEM is really the set up. I have JWT 530 turbos and would need to know the wastegate spring pressure. Then another thing would be determining the duty cycle for both high and low settings. The low setting will be 16 psi and the high setting will 22 psi. Does anybody have experience with the AEM Tru-boost?
